Interview Questions & Answers
Here, you will find some commonly asked questions, and these are my answers...
1
What are your strengths?
My strength is in initiative, confidence and determination. When I see something that I want to learn or know how to do, I figure it out. I like learning how to do things and I’ve never needed supervision. I call to schedule my own events, build lots of things myself and am reconstructing a fishing boat currently. My determination keeps me on course to finishing things.
2
What are your weaknesses?
My weaknesses are in learning something that doesn’t interest me. I also have a reading disability that makes it hard to read long books. This can lead to procrastination because it’s so frustrating. I am working on these things and overcoming them through utilizing other avenues of reading (books on tape being one of them).
3
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years I will have graduated college, in Business Leadership and I will be in the workforce in a business leadership position. Although I may need to begin in an entry position, I plan to quickly advance to become a leader in that organization. Once a leader, I can perform best and make a good impac in that position, I will keep moving up within the organization or move to another where I am able to advance. t I will be involved in coaching hockey in some capacity. I plan to coach women’s hockey wherever I am.
4
What can you offer us that someone else can not?
I can offer the ability to learn very quickly, I don’t wait for someone to ask me to do something. When I see there is something that needs to be done, I start doing it. I set goals for myself, benefiting my organization and myself. I also have a lot of real world experience, I travel alone and am confident in my surroundings, going places and talking to people.
5
How do you handle pressure/stress?
When I am under pressure or stress, I push through it. Pressure exists everywhere, it’s not given, it just is, in life. The fact that the stress and pressure will reduce once the item is accomplished, motivates me to kick it into a higher gear and perform. There are two choices when put in a high stress situation, fight or flight and I definitely fight.
6
What would your previous boss/supervisor say your strongest point is?
My previous coach would say that teamwork is my strongest asset. I am all about the team performance, not just my own. In any given situation I assess the surroundings and make the decision that benefits the overall goal and not just myself.
7
What kind of work do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy work that involves creating and strategizing. I like to work with my hands and create things, but designing them was also enjoyable. Thinking about the project from all vantage points allows me to conclude with the best decisions. These skills will be applied to everything I do, whether it be in business, social or sports life.
8
Tell me about an accomplishment you are most proud of.
In my sophomore year, I transferred to a different school and then Covid-19 shut down the schools. To say this was difficult for me is an understatement. Learning the technology without anyone helping or guiding me in person was a huge problem for me. In the same year, I was tested and confirmed with two intense learning and reading disabilities. I had to spend more time than others to read and find better ways to complete work. It felt like I was climbing the tallest mountain without knowing how to climb, but I kept going and I did it.
9
Tell me how you handled a difficult situation.
In any difficult situation, I have learned that stepping forward boldly is the very best way to handle it. It could be in my school life, personal life, or sports career. In each of these, the key is the same. It did take a while for me to grasp this and adopt it, but I will continue moving forward boldly and without hesitation because it is the best way to handle a difficult situation.
10
Who do you look up to/who is your mentor?
My hockey coach, Sam, who has shown me what leadership is through his actions and nothing else. He has never called himself our leader or my leader, never demanded us to call him coach and at the beginning of the season many didn’t. He demonstrates the action plan and describes why it will work and why different plays matter. He coached us to learn and tells us when we are doing it right. He highlights success, neve failures. He is patient and motivates us to perform. By the end of the season, everyone was calling him coach. That says it all..
